Meet the McCluskey brothers, Patrick (pictured here), Kevin and Brian. They are the fourth generation on their family farm in the hilly countryside of Sauk County, WI. Their 770-acre farm has been certified organic since 1996.
Why they farm? They love outdoor work and the independence of making the decisions that affect them. Plus, sugaring fits well in the seasons of farming (in late winter/early spring when there is no field work). And, as Brian says, “you can’t be fishing all the time!”
An added bonus? Seeing the look of pure enjoyment and appreciation when
someone tastes their maple syrup.
